More vehicle owners in the Republic of Moldova make use of the service related to manufacture and issuance of new registration plates containing the personalized combination of digits and letters. That was revealed by a study conducted by the Public Services Agency. From April 2015, when the Moldovan standard SM 122:2014 „Road vehicles. Registration plates for motor vehicles and trailers” was implemented, the Directorate of vehicles identification and registration issued 3666 personalized registration plates. The largest increase was recorded in 2017 when 1948 plates of this kind were issued. And since the beginning of 2018, 700 sets have already been released.
The most requested registration plates are those that have a combination of different letters and three identical digits such as DOR111, BIP777 or DAC888. Since January 2018, 131 such sets have been issued. At the same time, 128 car owners opted for a combination of different letters and different three digits. MED575, TOT707 and RUS707 are some examples of registration number plates of this type. Moreover, 67 sets of number plates have a combination of different letters and three digits, the first two digits being zeros, such as: GEP007, SUD001, LEU008, WIN007 and BOS006. There were issued 56 number plates with the combination of different letters and a single digit, for instance: TOY1, PIK1 and NIN1.
The service provides for the verification, ordering, manufacturing, receipt, and registration of a personalized number plate and is provided within the Directorate of vehicles identification and registration in Chisinău, 28 Salcamilor Street or by the territorial subdivisions.
The cost of a personalized registration number plate ranges from 1080 to 9600 lei, while the cost of a set with regular digits is 480 lei. The price list for the registration plates that contain personalized digits and letters can be accessed on the web page of the Agency - www.asp.gov.md. The availability of the registration number can be verified on the portal of electronic services www.e-services.md.
