Between May 2 and June 30, 2018, the Department of Population Registration of the Public Services Agency conducted a campaign to provide graduates of pre-university education institutions with identity documents. The idea appeared when making amendments to the Law 273 of November 9, 1994 on identity documents of the national passport system, which provides for the obligation to hold an identity card from the age of 16 years.
During this period of time, employees of the PSA jointly with the leadership of educational institutions and local public authorities identified graduates, who did not have an identity card, and informed them how they could obtain it. Thus, during 2 months 7916 applications for the issuance of the identity card of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova have been submitted by persons aged between 14 and 18 years.
The identity cards required within the framework of the campaign were festively handed in to their holders at various ceremonies. Some pupils received their first identity card at the festive meeting at the end of the school year, others – at the official opening of the multifunctional centers, and some of the young people were invited to the offices of the territorial subdivisions of the PSA, where the documents were solemnly handed in. Graduates were informed about the rights of the identity card holder and the importance of ensuring the security and confidentiality of personal data.
Please note that the first identity document is issued free of charge.
