The total number of enterprises with foreign capital registered in the Republic of Moldova as of August 1, 2018, is 11302. Most of them are from Romania - 1746 companies, as shown by the statistical data provided by the Department of Registration and Licensing of Legal Entities within the Public Services Agency. This number represents 15,4% of the total number of foreign enterprises operating in our country. Italy ranks second with 1391 registered enterprises, followed by Turkey with 1302 companies and Ukraine with 1154. These are followed by the Russian Federation, Germany, USA, Israel and Cyprus.
At the same time, the Netherlands occupies the first place regarding the invested capital. 178 Dutch companies invested about 2402 million lei in our country. Over 1732 million lei were invested by Italian companies, and 1919 thousand lei by Cyprus. The capital invested by Romanian companies amounts to 1508 thousand lei, and the capital invested by companies from the Russian Federation amounts to 1041 thousand lei. Then follows companies from Germany, the USA, Austria, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, which have invested between 434 thousand lei and 682 thousand lei.
30% of the companies registered in the country declared wholesale trade as their type of activity, 23% - retail trade, and 12% - the processing industry. 6% of enterprises were launched in agriculture, and 5% - in transport and communications. Companies that have declared real estate transactions or hotels and restaurants as their type of activity represent 4% each. Those who have chosen to carry out financial activities or construction have 2% each.
Statistical data also shows that 66% of the enterprises were registered in the capital city. In the first seven months of this year 3585 new companies were registered with the PSA subdivisions.
