On September 10, 2018, the Public Services Agency issued the first provisional registration certificates for vehicles with neutral numbers to the holders of vehicles from the left bank of the river Nistru. Documents were handed in in the presence of the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship for Transnistrian Settlement Franco Frattini, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic, political representative of Tiraspol Vitalii Ignatiev, foreign ambassadors, and the PSA representatives.
The service is available due to the Vehicle Registration Offices that were opened in Ribnita and Tiraspol on September 1, 2018. The first beneficiaries include both natural and legal persons. According to Gheorghe Cretu, the Head of the Department for vehicle registration and driver qualification, the permanent vehicle registration certificates will be issued within 30 days.
Since the opening of the offices, 2000 applications for neutral numbers have been received. „Employees of the Vehicle Registration Offices work as a team. They have had a joint training in which they have learned all the operational processes, and soon their number will be supplemented”, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic said.
The representative of the OSCE Chairmanship Franco Frattini said he was pleased with the activity of Vehicle Registration Offices. „It is a historic event for people living in Tiraspol who will be able to travel to the EU member states. It is a great achievement due to the involvement of both parties. From the very beginning we wanted to focus on specific results to improve people's lives”, Franco Frattini highlighted.
It should be recalled that the registration certificates and the neutral number plates are intended for the vehicles registered in the Transnistrian region to admit them to international road traffic. Individuals and legal entities from the left bank of the river Nistru and Bender municipality can benefit from this facility, except for Cocieri, Corjova, Cosnita, Dorotcaia, Molovata Noua, Pirita, Pohrebea and Vasilievca localities, Dubasari district.
