Passports issued starting today will be valid for 10 years

10.10.2018 17:32

Starting today, October 10, 2018, the Public Services Agency will issue passports with a 10-year validity period to citizens over 16 years of age. Prices for the document issuance have remained the same.

The adjustment is part of the amendments to the Law no. 273-XIII of 9 November 1994 on identity documents of the National Passport System that have entered into force today. Also, when requesting the identity documents, the citizens will no longer present the document certifying the blood group.

Although the national legal framework provides for the issuance of the identity card of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova from birth, according to the new provisions, it becomes mandatory for persons, who have reached the age of 16 years.

In order to ensure equity to all citizens and accessibility to exercise their rights regardless of their place of residence, the new amendments regulate the issuance, upon request, of the provisional identity card to persons who have legally emigrated and permanently reside on the territory of other states, but who,  for some reasons, stay temporarily on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

Detailed information on the list of necessary documents, deadlines, tariffs and fees for the issuance of identity documents may be found out on the Public Services Agency website: www.asp.gov.md or by dialling the phone numbers 14 909 and (022) 257-070.
