The PSA advises the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to check the validity of their identity documents

09.10.2020 08:28

In the context of the elections of the President of the Republic of Moldova scheduled to be held on November 1, 2020, the Public Services Agency urges the citizens of the Republic of Moldova with voting rights to verify the validity of their identity documents and take action to exchange them before the election date in case they are not valid.

According to the provisions of the legislation in force, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who have their domicile in the Republic of Moldova, are obliged to hold identity cards from the age of 16. Please note that the first identity card of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova is issued free of charge.

It should be mentioned that when requesting the issuance of identity documents due to the changes of personal data, it is not mandatory to present civil status documents confirming the changes made to personal data and/or civil status of the holder, if the information about the respective changes and civil status documents issued is contained in the State Register of Population.

The applicants may apply for the issuance of identity documents to any multifunctional center of the Public Services Agency, regardless of their place of domicile and/or temporary residence, and the citizens residing abroad – to diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Moldova (DMCO). In the absence of a DMCO in the applicant's state of residence the application may be submitted to any DMCO.

We remind you that the citizens have the opportunity to pre-register their visit to the subdivisions of the Public Services Agency using the Information System “Pre-registration” through the official website of the Public Services Agency www.asp.gov.md or by phone, calling the contact numbers of multifunctional centers, and also the Call Center at the telephone number 14 909. The pre-registration service is offered free of charge and is available 24 hours depending on the office's working hours.
