In order to provide identity documents to the graduates in lower secondary education of general education institutions of the Republic of Moldova in the period preceding the examinations, the Public Services Agency recommends the graduates, their parents and the representatives of minors, and the management of education departments and general education institutions to encourage the graduates to apply for the issuance of the identity card of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the provisions of Art. 7 of the Law no. 273/1994 on the identity documents of the national passport system, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova domiciled in the Republic of Moldova shall hold an ID card from the age of 16.
According to the data from the State Register of Population, as of 1 April 2021, about 45,807 children have reached or will reach the age of 16 in 2021.
Please note that the first ID card of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova is issued free of charge within 30 calendar days
We draw your attention to the fact that the ID cards of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova of the II and III generation (ID-1 format, card size) that have the domicile registration indicated on the reverse side of it shall become invalid from the moment of deregistration of domicile. We found that, as of today, 219,785 citizens of the Republic of Moldova have invalid ID cards.
We advise the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to check the validity of their ID cards and, if necessary, to apply for its reissuance within a reasonable time, thus efficiently managing their time.
