At the invitation of the Secretary General of the International Commission on Civil Status (CIEC), Mr. Nicolas Nord, representatives of the Public Services Agency participated in the work of the General Assembly of the CIEC (Strasbourg, France).
The delegation of our country presented to the participants the new legislative features in the field of activity of the civil status bodies of the Republic of Moldova, in particular, the recent changes made to the regulatory framework concerning the electronic signature and the electronic document.
“The multilingual forms of the CIEC. The present and future of international cooperation in the field of civil status” - another topic discussed at the conference. The speakers, honoured professors of the universities of Paris (France), Liege (Belgium), Neuchatel (Switzerland), Munich (Germany), Valencia (Spain), mentioned the need to adapt international instruments to the needs of citizens, in particular the CIEC’s Convention No. 16 on the issue of multilingual extracts from civil status records (the Republic of Moldova ratified the convention in 2008).
The Republic of Moldova participates in the meetings of the General Assembly of the CIEC by virtue of its observer status obtained in 2006.
