In the period 10-11 October 2022, the Director of the Public Services Agency Mircea Esanu, as a member of the official delegation of the Republic of Moldova, takes part in the works of Digital Summit in Tallinn, Estonia.
Tallinn Digital Summit is an annual event, hosted by the Prime Minister of Estonia, which brings together leaders of digitally advanced countries, international organizations and the private sector, providing a platform for presenting the latest human-centred digital policies and coordinating global efforts to create a digital and physical infrastructure with a major impact on the well-being and security of all. This year the event is attended by ministers from 15 countries and guests from over 30 countries.
“The Tallinn Digital Summit takes place against the backdrop of several important events. First, many have recently introduced new connectivity initiatives, including the G7, EU's Global Gateway, UK's Clean Green Initiative and Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity. Second, Russia's aggression against Ukraine, along with ongoing cyberattacks against vital infrastructure, have brought into focus the geopolitical importance of value-based investments in reliable connectivity and reduction of our strategic dependencies on malign actors. At this crucial moment, as the fragility of the global economy has been revealed, we must replace unsustainable dependencies with balanced partnerships. We need to do business with partners we can trust. We must stand strong together as democrats against autocracy, defend our values and shape the future of the global economy. This is to be achieved within the Global Gateway – a grandiose project of the European Union, in which more than 300 billion euros will be invested”, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen declared at the opening of the Summit.
The 2022 edition of the Tallinn Digital Summit is focused on connectivity and building reliable partnerships. It discusses concrete steps that governments, financial institutions, international organizations, technical experts and the private sector should take to create a secure and trustworthy digital society.
The following topics will be discussed during two days at the Tallinn Digital Summit: the role of connectivity and trusted partnerships in ensuring global stability, improvement of energy, economic and cyber security, cooperation on digital policy, international standards in the development and implementation of artificial intelligence, digital public goods, and the reconstruction of a free and democratic Ukraine.
