Today, November 30, 2022, the Deputy Director of the Public Services Agency, Francisco Talmaci, had a working meeting with the Head of the Economic Crime and Cooperation Division of the Council of Europe (CoE), Evgheni Evgheniev.
The discussion focused on the cooperation between the Public Services Agency and the Council of Europe in order to establish assistance in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
Starting from 2023, the Council of Europe aims to provide the Republic of Moldova with assistance in developing its capacities in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing by using tools such as mentoring, expertise, and training. In this context, two projects are to be implemented.
The first project will be carried out in the context of the Good Governance Program of the European Union and the Council of Europe for the implementation of internal reforms to ensure better alignment with European standards in the field of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
The second project will focus directly on the fight against money laundering, proceeding from the requirements and standards provided for in the documents related to the process of accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
The Public Services Agency (PSA) is one of the beneficiary institutions of the mentioned projects and will benefit from technical assistance and operational expertise in the respective fields.
The PSA, as a state registration body, pursuant to Law no. 308/2017 on prevention and combating money laundering and terrorist financing, verifies, registers, keeps record of and updates data on the beneficial owners of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs upon their registration, upon the registration of changes made to the constitutive documents of legal entities, upon the state registration of legal persons subject to reorganization and upon their removal from the State Register.
Starting January 17, 2022, information on the beneficial owners of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs is publicly posted on the PSA website.
As of 28.11.2022, the State Register of Legal Entities contains information on beneficial owners for 43023 legal entities, including the removed ones. From the total number, beneficial owners of 8 thousand legal entities were registered this year (17.01.2022 - 28.11.2022).
