Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day, is celebrated annually on February 14. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world choose this particular day to propose to their loved ones. Over the last decades the holiday has become very popular among the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
The Registry Offices of the Public Services Agency have accepted 47 applications requesting marriage registration on 14 February 2023.
According to statistical data presented by the Civil Status Department of the Public Services Agency, 18150 marriages were registered in 2022 (in 2021 – 20245 marriages).
The most popular age for marriage registration among the citizens of our country is 20-25 years. Thus, from the total number of marriages registered in 2022, 7236 women and 2894 men got married at this age.
The „youngest” marriage was registered at 16-17 years (women - 240, men - 3). Among the oldest are 2 brides aged 81 and an 89-year-old groom.
The minimum matrimonial age, established for the registration of marriages in the Republic of Moldova, is 18. Last year 188 men and 1501 women got married at this age.
In the Republic of Moldova, 15637 persons with the forename „Valentin” and 59068 persons with the forename „Valentina” are registered.
