Recommencement of birth registration directly within the PMSI "Institute of Mother and Child"

26.07.2022 16:48

The birth certificate is the first official document, which is issued free of charge by the Public Services Agency (PSA) when registering newborns. The parents of children born in the PMSI “Institute of Mother and Child” will have the opportunity to obtain the certificate at the institution before the discharge from the maternity hospital thus avoiding the need to subsequently apply to the Registry Office within the territorial subdivisions of the PSA.

In this regard, the PSA announces the recommencement of activities related to the registration of facts of birth of newborns in the PMSI “Institute of Mother and Child” (Chisinau municipality, Burebista Street, 93).

To obtain a birth certificate, the following documents are needed:

  • the medical certificate stating the birth, confirming the birth of a child;
  • identity documents of the parents;
  • the marriage certificate.

If the parents do not want to obtain the birth certificate in the maternity hospital, then they will have to apply the same documents to the Registry Office within the Multifunctional Center of the PSA in whose territorial area the birth took place or according to the address where the parents’ domicile/residence is registered.

The parents or one of them are obliged to declare the birth of the child within no more than three months from the day of the child's birth, and if the parents or the persons who replace them fail, without a valid reason, to comply with the deadline for filing the declaration of birth of the child, they shall be subject to liability for the contravention.

Information regarding the documents required to be presented when declaring the birth of a newborn can be viewed by accessing https://www.asp.gov.md/ro/servicii/persoane-fizice/11/111/ig.
